Ro-Ro ferries are known for their efficiency in short journeys, accommodating a mix of passengers, cars, and commercial vehicles, allowing vehicles to easily drive on and off, making travel both quick and accessible.
The eagerly anticipated Ro-Ro ferry service connecting Bhayandar and Vasai in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) commenced its trial run on Tuesday. This marks the second Ro-Ro service in the MMR, with the first operating on the Ferry Wharf and Mandwa route.
The Bhayandar-Vasai Roll On/Roll Off (Ro-Ro) service aims to reduce the 30-kilometer road journey between Thane and Palghar districts.
Ro-Ro ferries are known for their efficiency in short journeys, accommodating a mix of passengers, cars, and commercial vehicles, allowing vehicles to easily drive on and off, making travel both quick and accessible.
The newly inaugurated service will run eight times a day, with the vessel capable of carrying 100 passengers and 33 four-wheelers in one trip.
According to a release, the fares for adult passengers will be Rs 30 and Rs 15 for children for a one-way journey.
